Affirmative Action,
Equal Opportunity and
Disability Compliance

Mission

The Office of Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity and Disability Compliance is both an administrative unit of, and a resource center for, the College community. The Office of Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity and Disability Compliance develops policies and procedures and has overall responsibility for providing leadership, coordination, and oversight of the College's affirmative action, equal opportunity and disability compliance initiatives.

Affirmative Action

An affirmative action program contains a set of specific, result-oriented procedures to which a College or University commits itself and applies a good faith effort to achieve. The objective of those procedures, plus such efforts, is equal employment opportunity. Affirmative Action remedies past discrimination by establishing action-oriented programs for the integration of minorities and women in the workforce including students. The Office of Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity and Disability Compliance assists departments in identifying and recruiting qualified minorities and women for positions at the College.

Equal Opportunity

Equal Opportunity requires the elimination of existing discriminatory conditions, whether purposeful or inadvertent. The College is continuing to systematically examine all policies and procedures to be sure that they do not operate to the detriment of any person on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, marital status, political belief or affiliation, and veteran status. The College requires that the practices of those responsible in matters of employment and education, including all supervisors and faculty, are non-discriminatory. The Office of Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity and Disability Compliance provides assistance in ensuring affirmative action, equal opportunity and disability compliance to all faculty, staff and students, and is the liaison for state and federal compliance agencies.
