Hermenaut
Hermenaut, an
irregularly published journal of philosophy and pop-culture, has been
described as "a zine that gives voice to indie intellectual thought," "a
scholarly journal minus the university," and "a sounding board for thinking
folk who operate outside the ivory tower." Founded in 1992 by a rag-tag
group of outsider intellectuals, Hermenaut uses the tools of
philosophy, sociology, and critical theory to explode the received notions
of academia and the hipster demimonde alike. From here, you can read
selections from our print issues as well as search the site itself by

Welcome to the website for Young Scholars in

Issues in Political
Economy
Issues in Political Economy is committed to
supporting and encouraging quality undergraduate research in all areas of
economics. Now in its 19th volume, the Journal was founded on the belief
that the best way to learn economics is to do economics. Through the process
of research, writing, and peer review, students actively engage the
discipline in a way not possible by simply listening to lectures and reading
textbooks. In short, undergraduate research is a vital component in an
economics education. The literature suggests that students take projects
more seriously and learn more when the project is directed towards an
external rather than an internal audience such as a class assignment.
IPE is designed to provide an external audience for such research.
Issues in Political Economy is edited and
refereed entirely by students, with oversight from faculty at the
University of Mary Washington and
Elon University. In order to
maintain quality and objectivity, we follow a double-blind review process.
The only requirements for submission are that the article pertains to some
aspect of economics, that it was written during undergraduate study, and
that it be submitted through a faculty sponsor. Though submissions on all
topics in economics will receive consideration, papers should be analytical
and seek to add new understanding to the topic.

Rose-Hulman Undergraduate Mathematics Journal
Topics for papers may come from many sources. For example, REU programs
generate interesting, and often, original work. Many departments of
mathematics require senior projects or papers. Presentations at
undergraduate mathematics conferences could be expanded and made suitable
for publication. Work from summer internships requiring mathematical tools
also might be appropriate for publication.
Although the paper need not contain original research in mathematics, it
must be interesting, well written, and at a level that is clearly beyond a
typical homework assignment. Readers of the journal should expect to see new
results, new and interesting proofs of old results, historical developments
of a theorem or area of mathematics, or interesting applications of
mathematics.

journal run by undergraduate students at the Stephen M. Ross School of

Critique
Critique
provides a
forum for graduate and undergraduate students of politics to express and
exchange diverse ideas and to imagine new possibilities for democracy and
justice. The electronic format of Critique provides an
alternative venue that expands political debate by creating space for the
emergence
of new ideas. Such a medium broadens the horizon for
undergraduate and graduate publications and serves to lift typically
unheard voices in academia. The editors firmly believe that budding
scholars introduce valuable ideas that must be heard in order to understand
the changing nature of our global community.
Thus we
encourage articles about politics that take seriously the growing
opportunities for social change and new possibilities for enacting policy
nationally and internationally.
